Many solicitors are familiar with the SRA Statement of Solicitor Competence, but one requirement that can sometimes receive less attention is Section D: Managing themselves and their own work. This requires solicitors to "Initiate, plan, prioritise and manage work activities and projects to ensure that they are completed efficiently, on time and to an appropriate standard", both in relation to their own work and the work they lead or supervise.

These requirements mean that, in practice, solicitors must act as effective project managers and demonstrate the skills required in that role.

This webinar will focus on what these skills represent in practice and the essential techniques solicitors can apply in any matter to improve efficiency throughout the life of a case.

It is clear that embracing project management skills alongside process improvement can enhance delivery, reduce issues, and support a more consistent and robust matter lifecycle.

Solicitors, all fee earners and managers.

All Levels – this can be picked up throughout anyone's professional career regardless of experience

How the requirements of the SRA competence statement translates into everyday tasks and matter management and key techniques that can be used to achieve these requirements to great practical effect.

  1. The SRA Statement of Solicitor Competence, namely “Section D Managing themselves and their own work”, requires solicitors to demonstrate project management skills
  2. Project management skills and techniques can benefit any legal matter, and especially litigation.
  3. Top firms employee project managers and project management teams, working closely with their pricing manager and pricing teams
