The presentation will give Court of Protection practitioners and professional Deputies an overview of hourly rates and retainers in Court of Protection matters and hopefully, if armed with this knowledge, it will assist in the recovery of costs at assessment, making sure Court of Protection practitioners are properly remunerated for the work that they do.
I will be running through the previous hourly rates from the 2010 Guideline hourly rates, the PLK & Ors Judgment of 30 September 2020 and those rates as well as the present 2021 Guideline hourly rates, the importance of retainers, interim payments and then the impact of using the correct hourly rates in your Bills of Costs sent to the SCCO for assessment.
Learning objectives:
Delegates will learn about the correct hourly rates to use for their Bills of Costs as well as the rates to use in their retainers.
Your CPD Certificate can be found in your Account.
