Introducing the Legacy Academy training series
In this introductory video, Lucinda Frostick, Director of Remember A Charity, introduces the Legacy Academy training series—a new initiative developed in partnership with For Legal, aiming to equip private client advisers to support their clients in achieving their philanthropic legacy.
The training is designed to help advisers:
What is Remember A Charity?
Remember A Charity is a consortium of almost 200 UK charities, working together with legal firms, partners, professional advisers and government to inspire more people to consider leaving a charitable legacy.
Why charitable legacies?
Over this time, legacy giving has become a vital income stream for charities and those they support across the UK. It now raises £4.5 billion for good causes annually, helping. to fund everything from medical research to hospice care, emergency rescues to environmental campaigns, international aid, poverty relief and a wide range of charitable support across our communities.
What does this mean for you and your clients?
While almost anyone can remember a charity in their Will alongside their loved ones – and every gift is greatly valued, legacy giving is even more prevalent and appealing for high net worth individuals; those who have the potential to make a pronounced impact with their giving. Its appeal is even greater thanks to the generous Inheritance Tax incentives available here in the UK.
New research shows that half of UK individuals with £1m+ in investable assets have already pledged a charitable legacy. This growth is driven not only by people’s generosity, but by a fundamental shift in how people think about their wealth and the impact they want to leave behind. Increasingly, there’s a desire for people to invest their wealth in good causes – in the areas that align with their values, sense of passion and purpose.
From a client’s perspective, support from trusted advisers like you can play a crucial role in helping them structure their giving in the best way for them - helping build awareness about legacy giving and ensuring they understand their options. And, even a small share of a sizable estate has the potential to enable them to make a big impact.
This Legacy Academy series aims to helps advisers build trust, attract values-driven clients, and enhance retention, while unlocking essential legacy income for charities. Further resources are available at www.rememberacharity.org.uk/wealthadvisers
