This is a half day event covering Financial Remedy and Private Law Children with Katharine Bundell of 4PB Chambers.

Katharine will look at all of the main practice areas, including:-

Finances:

Katharine will look at all of the main practice areas: capital, debts, pensions, periodical payments and any new case law including the Supreme Court decision in Standish.

Katharine will also consider practice points for these areas and including for modest asset cases, which can be the hardest to resolve fairly.

Responding to requests we will also consider practice points for intervenor claims, how to manage debts to parents for legal fees, and dealing with third party’s assets.

Private Law Children:

In the second half Katharine will consider private law children. Again, she will look at the recent cases which are making a splash, consider the current trends and practice points for running an effective case and assisting clients.

There will be a deep dive into disclosure, covert recordings and how to manage the evidence we are now brought by clients on their devices. We will look at the new updated Cafcass guidance on domestic abuse and some examples of how the Court is managing contact is the context of abuse findings. We will also look at out of court solutions in children matters, and the new Pathfinder approach which is coming to a court near you….

Katharine may also give away a few advocacy tips at the end…

There is no public law content in this course but there will be lots of opportunity for interaction and questions and answers throughout.
