This live webinar is designed to consider and explain the Court of Appeal decision in Chartered Institute of Legal Executive (CILEX) & Ors v Mazur & Ors [2026] EWCA Civ 369 Rev 1 and to give lawyers practical advice as to how to implement that decision.
This will include consideration of the Legal Services Act 2007 and the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s recently published Guidance on Supervision following its own analysis.
The session is aimed at all of those in law firms involved in all work, and not just the Conduct of Litigation, and the SRA Guidance makes it clear that although Mazur was dealing only with the Conduct of Litigation, the Regulatory Rules cover all work of all kinds in a law office.
It will be of particular interest to those managing and supervising unauthorized persons such as Paralegals, Trainee Solicitors, and Legal Executives who have not yet obtained authorization. It should also be noted that Partners and Managers themselves must have supervision arrangements in place to cover them, in other words, who supervises the Supervisor.
It will also look briefly as to how firms need to address the issue of Artificial Intelligence to ensure proper supervision and systems so that hallucinatory Judgments and false statements are not included in legal documents.
Firms also need to consider how to spot AI generated documents and information submitted by their opponent, especially by Litigants in Person, and to ensure that their own counsel are aware of the issues of the use of AI and how to deal with them.
This session is a must-attend for practicing lawyers.
All Levels – this can be picked up throughout anyone’s professional career regardless of experience
