Ask a Question

This 30-minute webinar is the 1st of a series of webinars covering practical topics of relevance to criminal practitioners – in this one Colin will distil the essence of 12 important High Court and Court of Appeal decisions decided upon in 2022.

We all have good intentions to keep up to date with case-law but some of these judgements are very long and you simply don’t have the time to sit down and read them. Keeping up to date with such judgements is important for lawyers, the more so if you are an advocate in court – such cases can enhance your representations in the matter or completely destroy them!

Learning objectives:

This presentation will cover 12 cases in total – here are just 3 examples of the things you will learn:

  • The evidential significance of DNA on an item easily transferable from place to place
  • Theft by way of low-value shoplifting under Section 22A of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980 – is this an either-way offence or summary?
  • The important area of credit on an early indication of guilt in the proceedings
