Session 11 in a suite of regulatory updates the session will focus on the increasing regulatory pressure the SRA is imposing on those who occupy key managerial roles within law firms, large and small. The habit has long since been that the most senior member of staff occupies the role as senior partner, managing partner and COLP, and they may as well have all the other titles going – IDO, DPO, SRO H&S officer. However, on top of a full-time day-job these roles exert huge burdens in their performance and the SRA are rightly questioning how these various roles are resourced.

Learning objectives:

  • What the roles encompass
  • The burdens they impose
  • Who may be best equipped to deliver the roles and functions
  • Delegation of performance
  • Resourcing
  • Do we need a full time compliance role-holder?
