Ask a Question

Rebecca Mansell, CEO of the British Deaf Association (BDA), discovered a major barrier for the deaf community: free will writing schemes were not accessible to BSL users.

Determined to change this, she identified Culver Law, a forward-thinking legal firm providing fully BSL-accessible will writing services. Recognising the huge impact this could have, the BDA formed a partnership with Culver Law to ensure deaf people can now access expert will writing support in their first language.

This groundbreaking initiative removes long-standing barriers, empowers deaf individuals to make informed decisions, and promotes true equality in accessing vital legal services. The presentation will explore the journey from identifying the problem to creating the solution, highlighting how this partnership is transforming access and ensuring deaf people’s voices are fully heard when planning for the future.

Learning Objectives:

Making Will writing accessible for all and important to flag that this is about more than writing Wills – it is about equality, inclusion and ensuring no one is left behind.
